2Lt Matthew Godino, a former Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadet and the Pegasus Squadron Emergency Services officer, graduates St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas in May 2023 as a pre-med biology major. On February 23, 2023, he received a full Air Force Health Professions Scholarship (HPSP) for medical school. In this program, students receive full tuition and required fees at an accredited U.S. medical school of their choice located within the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico. Books and most other educational fees are also covered under the HPSP scholarship. They receive an annual salary of ~$33,000 which includes a monthly stipend of $2,608.00/month for 10 ½ months and second lieutenant military and travel pay for the remaining 45 days during their active-duty tour at an Air Force medical center. There is a $20,000 signing bonus for students who receive a four-year AF HPSP scholarship, similar to the Army and Navy HPSP programs. Likewise, three-year scholarship participants can receive the signing bonus if they agree to a four-year commitment.
He will be attending the Lincoln Memorial Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) in Harrogate, Tennessee.
